Roger Federer made a comfortable start to the French Open with a straight-sets victory Sunday over Alejandro Falla.
The 2009 champion, making his 17th appearance at Roland Garros, looked at home on Philippe Chatrier Court as he cruised to a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win.

However, there was a moment of concern for Federer — and tournament organizers — after the match when a young fan breached security and ran onto the court, before attempting to take a selfie with the 33-year-old.

Federer was clearly unhappy as the boy attempted to stop him for a picture, before security guards stepped in to usher the fan away.
The incident recalled memories of the final in 2013, when the match between Rafael Nadal and fellow Spaniard David Ferrer was interrupted by a protester who ran onto the court waving a flare.
It was, though, the only time that Federer looked truly uncomfortable after a straightforward victory.
Having overcome a brief scare on his own serve in the third game, Federer finally found a chink in Falla's armor in the eighth, breaking at the third attempt before serving out for the set.
Federer's crucial break in the second set came in the third game after five missed attempts, eventually taking the game as Falla's forehand let him down – one of 26 unforced errors from the Colombian in the match.
Federer – playing in a record 62nd consecutive grand slam – broke again to wrap up the set and did not let his control drop, his elegant backhand particularly punishing as Falla was constantly pulled from one side of the court to the other.
It took him time to find a way through, despite putting Falla under pressure on his early service games. The 17-time Grand Slam champion had to wait until the 10th game of the final set to break – another Falla forehand going astray.
Federer will now meet either Marcel Granollers or Matthias Bachinger in round two.
