Nick Kyrgios defaulted his match with qualifier Casper Ruud at the Italian Open after receiving a game penalty for throwing a folding chair onto the court.
Australian Kyrgios reacted angrily early in the third set of the second-round match in Rome, immediately after losing his service game.
As captured by a fan sitting directly behind Kyrgios’ chair, the combustible Canberran exploded in an expletive-laden rant aimed at a member of the crowd he accused of moving as he served to save a break-point.
“You f****** r***** bro,” Kyrgios screamed, as captured by a fan sitting directly behind Kyrgios’ chair.

“(You moved) right across the court as I’m serving, do you understand that?
The chair umpire immediately slapped Kyrgios, who had earlier incurred multiple code violations, with a game penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.”
He didn’t take the punishment well, slamming his racket into the red dirt and kicking an object before hurling a folding chair onto the court, prompting the umpire to call the match referee to the court.
An emotional Kyrgios then turned on the fan again, screaming: “I’ve been giving 100 percent and I have to deal with f****** idiots like you.
“I’m done, I’m f****** done. I’m f****** done, bro, I don’t give a f***.”
Kyrgios then packed up his equipment and walked off, defaulting the match before the match referee could disqualify him.
Despite his rage the 24-year-old shook hands with both his opponent and the chair umpire before completing his walk-off.
