Nick Kyrgios will face off against Andy Murray in a highly-anticipated semi-final clash at the Boss Open in Stuttgart, Germany.

A walkover victory against Márton Fucsovics saw the Australian progress to play in his first ATP semi-final at a grass-court event in nearly four years.

In a tightly-contested battle, Kyrgios prevailed in the first set via tiebreak before his Hungarian opponent retired early in the second set due to a lower back injury.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a positive tournament in Stuttgart, which marked his return to the ATP tour after a nearly three-month absence.

Kyrgios claimed a straight-sets win over Jiří Lehečka in his opening game before defeating No. 5 seed Nikoloz Basilashvili in the round of 16.

Currently ranked world No. 78, Kyrgios will now face off against good friend Andy Murray for a spot in the Boss Open final.

The 35-year-old Scot has also been in strong form, most recently claiming an upset over the tournament's top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in their quarter-final.

Kyrgios and Murray have faced each other six times in their career, with the latter winning five of those encounters.

However, Kyrgios won their most recent match-up on grass in 2018.

Speaking about their upcoming semi-final, the Australian explained he will need to be at his best to get a result.

"I know what to expect but he also is a veteran on the grass and I don't want to take him lightly at all," Kyrgios said.

"I'm just going to go out there, serve big, look after my serve and see what I can do on his return games."
