Nick Kyrgios insisted he is no bad boy after securing two International Premier Tennis League victories for the Singapore Slammers against the Philippine Mavericks on Friday.
The livewire Australian has emerged as a promising talent, but the 20-year-old's on-court antics have seen him make headlines for the wrong reasons.
The Canberra product caused a huge controversy in August when he told Stan Wawrinka "Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend," but says he's still young and still learning.
"I'm not really a bad boy. I am young and it's fine," he said.
"But I also feel I've matured a lot in this year. I'm looking forward to the next season.
"I’m competitive, I play to win…so whether it's a game of chess or football, I play to win."
Kyrgios gave another reminder of his ability by beating Edouard Roger-Vasselin 6-5 (7-2) in the singles after combining with Marcelo Melo to see off Treat Huey and Roger-Vasselin 6-5 (7-5) in the men's doubles in New Delhi.
The 2015 Australian Open quarter-finalist's triumphs helped the Slammers beat the Mavericks 30-22 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium to sit third in the standings.
"I've had a great year, played some fantastic tennis, made it deep in the grand slam draw - which is great," Kyrgios said.
The Aussie upstart and Wawrinka were initially meant to be teammates in the IPTL, but the Swiss French Open champion pulled out. When asked how that partnership would have gone, Kyrgios brushed off any suggestion there would have been a problem.
""It's a long time. He (Wawrinka) has played fantastic and he understands that I am young, still learning.
"If we were in the same team, I would have worked with him for the win."
