Australian Open men's doubles champions Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis have continued their remarkable form with a victory over Marcelo Melo and Ivan Dodig at the Indian Wells Masters.

The 7-5 1-6 [10-2] win means the 'Special Ks' are now 7-0 in 2022.

Service games were key, with the Australian pair having a clear edge over their opponents, outserving them six aces to one.

Kyrgios and Kokkinakis edged out a tightly-contested first set, before unexpectedly falling 6-1 in the second set.

However, they regained their composure in the 'tiebreak-set', cruising to victory 10-2.

Their next match is against American duo John Isner and Jack Sock.

In the men's singles draw, John Millman has progressed to the second round with a straight-sets win over Jan-Lennard Struff.

Despite failing to qualify for the tournament, the Australian received a 'lucky loser' spot following the withdrawal of Ilya Ivashka.

The 32-year-old recently suffered a freak eye injury, but has fully recovered and gradually returned to form.

In an even match-up, Millman won the first set via a tiebreak over his German opponent, before claiming a similarly tricky second set 6-4.

The result now sets up an all-Aussie clash with Alex de Minaur in the second round.

Nick Kyrgios and Jordan Thompson are the other remaining Australians in the men's draw.
