Jasmine Paolini has been one of the best tennis players on the WTA Tour during the 2024 season.

Paolinie has achieved a career-high ranking of No. 5 in the world, has played in two major finals at Wimbledon and the French Open and won an Olympic gold medal in doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 28-year-old Italian has continued her great run with a strong showing at the US Open, where she will hope to capture her first career major title.

If she does so, she will become one of the shortest players in WTA Tour history to win a major.

Paolini's lack of size stands out when watching her play, but she makes up for her smaller stature thanks to her agility, quickness, and reaction time close to the net. It makes her one of the more exciting players to follow, especially when she ends up in a matchup where she is at a significant size disadvantage.

Here's what to know about Paolini's height and where it ranks compared to other WTA athletes.

Shortest Grand Slam winner of all time

Paolini might not be the shortest player on the WTA Tour, but she could tie the record as the shortest to win a Grand Slam event.

Ann Jones ranks as the shortest player to win a Grand Slam, among those whose heights were listed during their playing careers. She stood at 5-4. Paolini could tie Jones if the Italian can earn a Grand Slam win at any point during her career.

May Sutton (5-4.5), Billie Jean King (5-5) and Ash Barty (5-5) are the only other players to win majors with a listed height of 5-5 or less.

Shortest tennis player of all time

Gem Hoahing is the shortest tennis player of all time. She was a British tennis player who competed in 19 Wimbledon championships from 1937 to 1961.

Hoahing stood at just 4-9.5 and remains the shortest-ever player to participate in Wimbledon.
