The Sporting News analyses the odds and options for betting on the French Open.

What are the odds for the French Open men's singles title?

After Rafael Nadal opened as early favourite a few months ago, the Spanish legend has drifted following a series of indifferent performances while appearing to struggle with injury.

World no.1 Novak Djokovic has moved into overall favouritism after victory at the Italian Open confirmed his form.

Prodigy Carlos Alcaraz looms as a real threat after winning his last two tournaments on clay - the Barcelona and Madrid Opens.

Player Odds (AUD)

Who are the contenders to be French Open men's champion?

Rafael Nadal (Spain)

The absolute king of Roland-Garros is back once again - competing to win his 14th French Open from 18 attempts and snare his 22nd Grand Slam title.

After winning the Australian Open in January, Nadal looked to be looming as favourite to win again in Paris but his troublesome injury issues seemed to have returned in recent weeks.

The 35-year-old missed most of last season with a foot problem, which is where his current injury looks to have appeared.

Nadal's win Down Under was followed up by a triumph at the Mexican Open where he again beat Daniil Medvedev on the way to a second consecutive title.

But gradually, Nadal's performances have declined, starting with a solid run at Indian Wells that was halted by U.S no.1 Taylor Fritz in the final.

Nadal then bombed out of the Madrid Open quarter-finals to heir apparent Carlos Alcaraz, after a performance the previous round where he needed to save match points against Belgian journeyman David Goffin.

In the recent Italian Open, Nadal looked to be cruising after clinching the first set 6-1 against Denis Shapovalov, before the Canadian turned the tables to win in three sets, as the Spaniard looked visibly affected by fitness issues.

Alexander Zverev (Germany)

Third-ranked Alexander Zverev will likely go deep in the tournament but will need to improve to be a title chance.

The German is yet to win a title this year, losing in finals to Alexander Bublik and Alcaraz, while he was bundled out by Tsitsipas in Rome.
