French Open 2018: Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic to face off in first round image

What on earth can we expect here?

Divisive Australian tennis players Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic will battle it out in the first round of the French Open on Monday.

Tomic qualified for the main draw of the French Open with a win over Portugal's Goncalo Oliveira.

He claimed a 7-6(5) 7-5 win to qualify for his first Grand Slam main draw since last year's US Open.

Kyrgios has been battling an elbow injury for much of the 2018 season, and in fact, hasn't played a competitive match in six weeks.

He will still go into the second Grand Slam of 2018 as the 21st seed.

The duo have teamed up at a previous Grand Slam as doubles partners, but have never faced off in singles.

Tomic goes into the clash with some real form on his least preferred surface, having won seven matches on the trot.

Kyrgios and Tomic are two of the seven male Aussies that will line-up at the French Open with, John Millman, Matt Ebden, Jordan Thompson, James Duckworth and Alex de Minaur also qualifying.

Ashleigh Barty, Daria Gavrilova, Samantha Stosur, Ajla Tomljanovic and Isabelle Wallace are the Aussie girls that will be hoping to make an impact on the women's side of the draw.

Tomic had a much-publicised and short-lived appearance on reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here, after which he said he needed to get back to playing regular tennis.

Twitter was excited, but also wary of the past performances from the youngsters.
