Federer became just the third player to reach the milestone when he beat Milos Raonic 6-4 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 to take the Brisbane International title on Sunday.
Only Connors (1253) and Ivan Lendl (1071) have won more ATP matches than Federer and the 17-time grand slam champion is not entertaining the prospect of surpassing that legendary duo.
He said: "Never even thought about it, it’s not been a goal of mine to reach any of those guys.
"I know how well they've played over the years, how much they've played, and how successful they've played, but it's not a goal of mine in any way.
"Clearly, at this point, I doubt that it's going to happen, but you never know."
Federer will now turn his attention to attempting to win the Australian Open, which begins next week, for the first time in five years.
