Wheelchair tennis star Dylan Alcott has blown up on social media after he was left stranded on a plane following a flight.

Alcott took a selfie while he was seated on the plane on his own, with all other passengers having already exited the flight.

The 27-year-old posted the photo on Twitter on Friday, along with a stern message for the airline responsible, whom he didn't name.

“Left on ANOTHER PLANE without my wheelchair being brought to the gate,” Alcott said in the tweet.

“No idea where it is. Waiting for TOO LONG!

“Australian airlines need to sort their s*** out.

“It is inhumane and unfair taking peoples (sic) independence away and not caring about it.”

Alcott's supporters were outraged with his treatment.

Alcott has five grand slam titles to his name in the wheelchair quad singles.

He won the Australian Open four consecutive times in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, along with the 2015 US Open.

Alcott was a regular on Channel Seven's coverage of the Melbourne Park major, and will now join Channel Nine, who have purchased the rights to the event.
