Australia's Davis Cup team has learned its fate with the tournament revealing the draw for the group stages.

Captain Lleyton Hewitt and his side, to be led by Alex de Minaur and John Millman, will take on Belgium and Colombia in the group stage of the 2019 Davis Cup finals.

Hewitt's men qualified for the finals shortly after the Australian Open, with the Aussies earning their spot with a dominant 4-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in Adelaide.

The traditional home and away format was replaced last year in favour of a new-for-2019 - yet controversial - 18-team event.

The new format will see the six group winners - as well as the best two second-placed teams - qualify for the knockout stages, which will consist of quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final.

All ties will consist of two singles rubbers and a doubles match. The eighteen qualified nations will compete in Madrid from 18-24 November.

The four semifinalists will guarantee themselves a place in the 2020 finals, with the 12 teams that finish between fifth and 16th to compete in qualifiers in February 2020.

However, the two teams with the worst record after the 2019 group stage will be relegated to the Zone Group competition for 2020.

Australia's clean sweep of Bosnia and Herzevegonia was iced by a Jordan Thompson-John Peers demolition of Mirza Basic and Tomislav Brkic.

Prior to the tie-sealing doubles win, Millman, De Minaur and Alexei Popyrin all won their matches.
