Bernard Tomic has shaken off his French Open collapse by claiming his first win over a top-50 player in 12 months, edging out world No.44 Robin Haase.

The controversial Australian has written his best headline in an age, progressing to the quarterfinals at the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships in the Netherlands with a 6-3 7-5 victory.

The latest win signals a rapid change of form after Argentinian Marco Trungelliti took care of him in the first round at Roland-Garros in his first Grand Slam since last year's US Open, where he later offered up two-word responses in a miserable press conference.

Currently ranked 181st in the world, Tomic has another chance to take down a higher seed in his next-round match-up against Fernando Verdasco, who he boasts a flawless 5-0 record against.

Joining him in the finals is compatriot Matt Edben who got over defending champion Gilles Muller 6-3 7-5, lining up against Romania’s Marius Copil in the quarterfinals.

After failing to qualify for the Australian Open at the start of the year, Tomic has been attempting to recapture the form that saw him rise to a career-high ranking of 17 in 2016.
