Australian young gun Kimberly Birrell scored the biggest win of her career, defeating Croatian 29th seed Donna Vekic in three sets in the second round at Melbourne Park.
The Queenslander pinched the first set off her more fancied opponent, but Vekic rallied to take the second, with Birrell eventually claiming the decider to round off the 6-4 4-6 6-1 win.
Birrell, 20, now faces a likely third-round match against second seed Angelique Kerber, provided the German can get past Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia.

The Gold Coast resident secured her place in the Australian Open main draw with a win over countrywoman Astra Sharma in a wildcard playoff.
With her inclusion in the first major of the year secure, Birrell pulled off a win over world number ten Daria Kasatkina in the Brisbane International, before eventually going out at the hands of Lesia Tsurenko.
She backed that up with a win over world number 43 Kristina Mladenovic in Sydney, eventually losing to fellow Aussie Priscilla Hon.
Birrell started the year ranked 240 but don't expect her to hang around there too long if she continues to turn up against big name opponents.
Following Wednesday's win against Vekic, Birrell was asked whether she was nervous while serving for the match.
"100 per cent," Birrell said.
"There were so many things going through my head, I just had to bring myself back to the present and focus on getting my first serve in and I was able to do that."
And on a potential meeting with three-time Grand Slam winner Kerber?
"I hope that I do because it'll just be such an incredible experience, so we'll see what happens.
"Anything can happen, you just have to dream big and work really hard."
