Three Aussies have stunned their higher-ranked opponents in a dynamic start to day two of the Australian Open on Tuesday.
Maddison Inglis shocked Canada's 23rd seed Leylah Fernandez to win for the first time at a Grand Slam, while wildcard Chris O'Connell stunned 67th-ranked Frenchman Hugo Gaston and veteran Sam Stosur overcame Robin Anderson in her last Australian Open.

Inglis stuns 2021 U.S Open finalist
Ranked 133rd in the world, Inglis clinically dispatched Fernandez 6-4 6-2 in one of the first round's biggest boilovers.
The 25-year-old had never won a match at a Grand Slam despite four previous attempts in the first round and five other eliminations in the qualifiers.
Inglis, who was a wildcard entrant, took only an hour and 23 minutes to dismantle Fernandez, who reached the final of the U.S Open last year, losing to Emma Raducanu.
Perth-born Inglis will now face American Hailey Baptiste on Thursday for a spot in the third round.
Journeyman O'Connell sweeps aside talented Frenchman
Wildcard entrant O'Connell eliminated Gaston 7-6)4) 6-0 4-6 6-1 in a match that lasted two hours, 35 minutes.
It's the 27-year-old's third win over a top 70 opponent in his career, with all of those victories coming in the last 12 months.
O'Connell, ranked 175 in the world, proved to have a cooler head than his 21-year-old opponent, who regularly showed signs of frustration.
The Australian will now take on 13th seed Argentine Diego Schwartzman in the second round on Thursday.
Stosur winds back the clock in her last Australian Open
Having committed to retiring at the end of 2022, Australian veteran Sam Stosur prolonged her campaign at her final home Grand Slam with a 6-7(5) 6-3 6-3 win against USA's Robin Anderson.
The 37-year-old battled back from a set down against the world no.169 to clinch the match in two hours, 30 minutes.
Stosur will play Russia's 10th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the second round.
"Man, that was incredible," Stosur told Channel Nine.
"That’s a match I’m going to remember forever. And to do it at home today, I guess it wasn’t to be the last so happy to have another one."
