Australia has been handed a nightmare draw for the 2021 ATP Cup, drawn alongside Spain and Greece.

In a rematch of the 2020 semi-final, Australian number one Alex De Minaur along with John Millman, John Peers and Luke Saville will face off against world number two Rafael Nadal and Spain in the group stages.

Nadal defeated De Minaur in three sets in the inaugural edition of the tournament, booking Spain's place in the final.

The 20-time grand slam champion will spearhead Spain's campaign once again alongside world number 13 Roberto Bautista Agut, who was forced to apologise after comparing hotel quarantine conditions to prison.

Along with Spain, Australia will face Greece in the group stages, headlined by world number six Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The two nations faced off in the group stages in 2020, with Australia recording a 3-0 win to secure their spot in the knock-out stages.

Defending champions Serbia and world number one Novak Djokovic will face off against Alexander Zverev and Germany along with Canada in pool A.

Meanwhile, world number three Dominic Thiem will be looking to carry Austria to the semi-finals for the first time, drawn in pool C with Italy and France.

Russia and world number four Daniil Medvedev round out the draw in pool D, set to face off against Argentina and Japan.

This year’s event will be played at Melbourne Park alongside two ATP 250 events between February 1-5.

Having missed out on selection at the ATP Cup, Nick Kyrgios will headline the Murray River Open, with world number 14 David Goffin the top seed at the Great Ocean Road Open.
