Tomljanović has officially withdrawn from this year's Roland-Garros event.

The 30-year-old has failed to recover in time from a knee injury.

Notably, Tomljanović's absence means that Australia does not have a direct entry in the women's singles draw for the first time in 55 years.

Kimberly Birrell will be flying the flag as a wildcard, whilst Storm Hunter and Jaimee Fourlis will be hoping to make the main draw via qualifying.

When did Ajla Tomljanović last play tennis?

It has been a challenging 2023 thus far for Tomljanović, failing to see any time on the court.

She most recently played singles tennis at the Billie Jean Cup in November last year - a three-set loss to Belinda Bencic.

Her withdrawal from the French Open marks the second grand slam tournament she has missed this season after pulling out of the Australian Open in January.

What is Ajla Tomljanović's record at the French Open?

Tomljanović has had mixed results at Roland-Garros.

She reached the fourth round in her debut appearance in 2014 - her best finish to date.

Since then, the Australian has failed to make it past the second round.
