The 2022 ATP Tour will begin in Sydney, with the ATP Cup to signal the start of a new season of men's tennis.

Fans will be treated to over a week of group-stage, semi-final, and final action, as tennis stars from across the world prepare for the Australian Open.

Here is everything you need to know about the tournament.

When is the 2022 ATP Cup?

The 2022 ATP Cup will be held from January 1-9, representing the first week of the 2022 ATP Tour season.

16 teams are taking part, separated into four groups.

All ties between the teams include feature singles matches between the No. 1 players and No. 2 players, followed by a doubles match.

Where is the 2022 ATP Cup held?

The 2022 ATP Cup will be held at two venues in Sydney – Ken Rosewall Arena and the Qudos Bank Arena.

Both are located at Sydney Olympic Park, meaning fans will be able to travel between the two venues (if they have tickets for both arenas).

Group matches will be held across both stadiums, with the semi-finals and final to be played at Ken Rosewall Arena.

How many fans will be allowed at the 2022 ATP Cup?

The 2022 ATP Cup will be held in Sydney, NSW, meaning full capacity is expected at both venues.

However, crowd capacity can be influenced by government COVID-19 health and safety measures, which could change at any time.

How to watch the 2022 ATP Cup

Channel Nine will broadcast the Australian Summer of Tennis in 2022, including the ATP Cup.

Viewers will be able to catch all the action on two channels - Channel 9 and 9Gem. 

Who has withdrawn?

Two players of note have so far withdrawn from the 2022 ATP Cup - Austrian star Dominic Thiem and world No. 1 Novak Djokovic.

Thiem - a former U.S. Open champion - is still recovering from a right wrist injury and will miss the ATP Cup, as well as the Australian Open later in January.

Novak Djokovic has also been confirmed as a withdrawal, although an official reason was not provided.

2022 ATP Cup group draw

The 2022 ATP Cup is split into four groups.

17 of the top 20 players in the ATP Rankings will be taking part in the competition. 

The four group winners will progress to the semi-finals, with the two successful teams to face off in the final.

A country's position will be determined by the number of ties won, followed by the number of matches won in the case of a draw.
