Roger Federer survived two tiebreaks to outlast Greece's Stefanos Tsitsipas in their Hopman Cup clash in Perth on Thursday.

The Swiss legend triumphed 7-6(5) 7-6(4) to help his country into the title decider.

20-year-old Tsitsipas stuck it to his 37-year-old opponent, as Federer was uncharacteristically sloppy, making 20 unforced errors in the two set win.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner also failed to capitalise on any of his three break points.

Though as is often the case, Federer's class prevailed in the end, outlasting his less experienced opponent.

Belinda Bencic will play Maria Sakkari in the final rubber of the match up, though Switzerland's place in the final has already been assured.

They will face either Australia or Germany in the decider, with those two nations facing off tomorrow to determine the winner of group A.

Matt Ebden and Ash Barty will represent the locals, taking on Angelique Kerber and Alexander Zverev.
