Australia number eight Wycliff Palu has called time on his international career, Wallabies coach Michael Cheika has confirmed.

The 34-year-old racked up 58 appearances for Australia, but injuries have hampered the powerhouse forward in recent seasons and a hamstring problem saw him miss out on the Rugby World Cup final loss to New Zealand.
Palu was supposed to make the move to Japanese side Toyota Verblitz last season only for injury to scupper that switch and he returned to Waratahs for the 2016 Super Rugby campaign.
Upon his return to fitness Palu was involved as Australia were beaten 3-0 by England in last month's series, but told Cheika of his decision to end his international career in the aftermath of the whitewash.
"He came and spoke to me after the series on him moving on and retiring from international rugby," Cheika said.
"He doesn't want any noise about this stuff. He's one of the greatest servants we have, he's done so much for Australian rugby, he shouldn't be shifting out the side door to Japan.
"He's been one of the great players I've coached not only because of the way he plays the game but his attitude towards the team and what he does for the team, all class and always understated."
