Ireland coach Joe Schmidt admitted he was not entirely satisfied with his side's performance despite beating Romania 44-10 in the Rugby World Cup on Sunday.

Schmidt's men ran in six tries at Wembley to claim victory in their second Pool D match, with Tommy Bowe and Keith Earls - who tied Brian O'Driscoll as their leading Word Cup try scorer - each recording doubles.

Next Sunday's game with Italy will likely settle whether Ireland will qualify for the knock-out rounds, and Schmidt still sees things to improve on ahead of that clash at London's Olympic Stadium.

"I don't think you are ever totally satisfied," Schmidt said. "We know it wasn't a perfect game. Romania demonstrated their physical presence.

"They defended really well and it was a tough afternoon for us.

"We know next week is the pivotal week. Next week is effectively our qualification match. We have had a good look at Italy's games and we will play to our strengths as best we can."

Asked about an injury to Rob Kearney, who hurt himself in the act of scoring Ireland's fifth try, Schmidt added: "Rob was involved in high-speed play. He has jarred himself up a little bit.

"We are hopeful at this stage he will be OK, the pain is through his glute and his hip so we are icing up his glute. We will have a better picture tomorrow or Tuesday."
