The Honey Badger last pulled on the boots for the Sevens during Australia’s silver medal-winning run at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The 28-year-old will replace Henry Hutchison, who has withdrawn due to a minor foot problem.

Cummins has been plying his trade for the Coca-Cola West Red Sparks in Japan, but it was four arduous seasons back-to-back that made him decide to try something new and have a crack at featuring at the Olympics.

Having caught some of the action from the stands at the Sydney Sevens, Cummins is impressed with the new breed of Sevens talent.

These youngsters just having a go, you know that old-fashioned give it a crack," Cummins told The Sydney Morning Herald. "It doesn't matter who you're playing, who they are, how big you are, how small you are, just up the guts and bloody have a lash at 'em. I like that attitude."

The 41st Hong Kong Sevens kicks off on Friday with Australia drawn in Pool C alongside the USA, Argentina and Portugal.
