Drew Mitchell spoke of his pride at becoming Australia's leading try scorer at the Rugby World Cup, but believes Jonah Lomu's overall record will remain out of reach as the New Zealand great is "in a league of his own".
Powerful winger Mitchell scored twice in the second half of Australia's 65-3 demolition of Uruguay at Villa Park on Sunday, meaning he now has 12 World Cup tries to his name.
That surpassed the previous Aussie benchmark set by Chris Latham and leaves the Toulon star third on the overall list behind New Zealand pair Doug Howlett and Lomu.
Lomu's tally of 15 has stood since the 1999 tournament, and Mitchell thinks that his record will still stand come the end of the World Cup.
"I think Jonah's in a league of his own, it's probably a little bit beyond reach," he told Omnisport.
"It's [breaking Australia's try record at the World Cup] a proud moment for me. It's one of those things that hopefully once this campaign is done we can look back with a bigger outcome for the group.
"It's not something you go out chasing, and not something you look out for."
Australia are sure to face bigger challenges against England and Wales in their remaining Pool A matches, but Mitchell is happy with the momentum the side are building.
"You take confidence from any performance you do well in," he added. "We did well in some patches and not so well in others and we'll address that.
"For us it's about starting something, building a platform against Fiji and the boys did that really well.
"We'll take a bit of momentum from the game into Saturday's game [against England]."
