As any fashion designer will tell you - darling, there is only so much you can do with green and gold.

But did the Wallabies’ 2019 World Cup outfit need to be a near replica of the Socceroos’ famous 1974 strip?

That’s what football fans want to know after Rugby Australian released a strip which greatly resembles the get-up worn by one of the most loved teams in Australian sporting history.

The Socceroos wore a replica kit to the 2014 World Cup to honour those ’74 pioneers, further cementing it in the consciousness of football fans.

The Wallabies kit looks almost identical – from the same green collar to the same green sleeve trim on the same gold front.

All garnished with the same green playing shorts.

Oh, there is one point of difference.

Where the ’74 Socceroos wore white socks, the Wallabies of 2019 will slip on green numbers.

So do you agree?

Does the Wallabies World Cup strip look too much like a Socceroos kit?
