Super Rugby Pacific: Which Wallabies are playing in Super Rugby this year? image

Super Rugby Pacific is back for another season, the Rugby Union competition featuring teams from across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

This year, the Crusaders will look to defend their title, while the rest of the league seeks to dethrone them, in a competition more hotly contested than ever.

Amongst the league's teams reside some of the world's greatest players, including a number of members of Australia's national squad.

So just how many Wallabies will suit up in Super Rugby Pacific 2024?

Which Wallabies are playing in Super Rugby this year?

There will be a strong Wallabies contingent in this year's Super Rugby Pacific season, with players from the 2023 Rugby World Cup roster featuring some of the league's top teams.

Brumbies

  • Allan Alaalatoa
  • Blake Schoupp
  • James Slipper
  • Nick Frost
  • Tom Hooper
  • Rob Valetini

The Brumbies may have fallen short of the Super Rugby finals in 2023, but they're looking to go one better this year, resigning World Cup representatives Blake Schoupp and James Slipper, as well as team captain Allan Alaalatoa who missed the tournament with injury.

One of three teams to finish 14-10 in 2023, the second-best record in the league, the Brumbies' title hopes will only be stronger as they look to lift the trophy once more.

Queensland Reds

  • Zane Nonggorr
  • Taniela Tupou
  • Matt Faessler
  • Fraser McReight
  • Tate McDermott
  • Jordan Petaia
  • Suliasi Vunivalu

A 5-9 record was not the season that the Reds were hoping for in 2023, and they will no doubt look to improve upon this season, with a roster that includes seven Australian World Cup representatives, and 11 current or former Wallabies in total.

Led by names like Taniela Tupou and Suliasi Vunivalu, as well as veteran leader James O'Connor, the Reds will be determined to prove they are on of Super Rugby's toughest teams.

Western Force

  • Issak Fines-Leleiwasa
  • Nic White

It was a season to forget for the Force in 2023, scraping by with a 5-9 record.

Only one man from their squad last year donned the green and gold in France - Issak Fines-Leleiwasa - but the addition of scrum-half Nic White could be pivotal in turning this franchise around in 2024.

Melbourne Rebels

  • Pone Fa’amausili
  • Jordan Uelese
  • Matt Philip
  • Rob Leota
  • Carter Gordon
  • Andrew Kellaway
  • Marika Koroibete
  • Josh Kemeny

For a team that seems loaded with talent, the 2023 Super Rugby season sure was not kind to the Rebels, as they finished in second-last position with a 4-10 record, beating only the single-win Moana Pasifika.

Amidst franchise uncertainty, the Rebels will be hoping to improve on their efforts of last season, but considering the talent they have had and the results it's previously produced, that is no certainty.

NSW Waratahs

  • Angus Bell
  • David Porecki
  • Langi Gleeson
  • Lalakai Foketi
  • Izaia Perese
  • Max Jorgensen
  • Ben Donaldson
  • Michael Hooper

A similar story to the Rebels, the Waratahs were unable to turn their impressive collection of Wallabies into success in 2023, finishing sixth with more losses than wins.

But with a young rising star in Max Jorgensen, as well as a host of other talent, the Tahs could be about to right the ship in a big way this season.
