Two of world rugby's leading sides face-off in Dublin, as Ireland welcome South Africa to the Aviva Stadium for the first time in five years.
Since their last meeting, South Africa have won the Rugby Championship and the Rugby World Cup, both in 2019, while Ireland won the 2018 Six Nations and recently beat the All Blacks in New Zealand to become the top-ranked international rugby side on the planet.
South Africa are third in the world rankings, and are the highest-placed team from the southern hemisphere, with only France separating the Springboks and Ireland on that prestigious ladder. The Springboks lost the Rugby Championship title by a single point to New Zealand, despite beating the All Blacks 26-10 in Mbombela.

Ireland's recent history with New Zealand is one of historic triumph, though. Their three-test series in July began with a 42-19 defeat in Auckland, but the tourists hit back to win the second test 23-10, the first time Ireland had ever beaten the All Blacks on their own patch. Ireland followed up to win the deciding match 32-22, sealing a first-ever series victory over New Zealand, and cementing their place as the best side in world rugby at the moment.
These two teams come into this match as the leading sides in their respective hemispheres, and are both in good form too. It could well prove to be one of the best games in this entire autumn series, and with the 2023 Rugby World Cup looming on the horizon, it gives both a chance to show off their tournament credentials.

Excitement machine and 2019 Rugby World Cup winning try-scorer Cheslin Kolbe is back in the South African side, having not appeared for the Springboks during the Rugby Championship. Wingers Kurt-Lee Arendse and Makazole Mapimpi both scored two tries apiece during the tournament, and will flank Kolbe from either side as coach Jacques Neinaber fields a very attack-minded backline in Dublin.

Ireland vs. South Africa odds
It's going to be a close contest to say the least, but one that the bookmakers feel that Ireland will edge, just. Both Sky Bet and BetMGM have the Springboks as 11/8 outsiders to win in Dublin, while Ladbrokes have them at $2.50 to prevail, much longer odds than the $1.53 they're offering for an Irish victory.
Only one of the 26 previous meetings between these two sides has ended in a draw, and BetMGM's odds of 22/1 on neither side winning the game reflects the nature of this fixture.

Ireland win | 8/15 | 1.53 | 4/7 |
South Africa win | 11/8 | 2.50 | 11/8 |
