Australian coach Eddie Jones has once again come back to haunt the Wallabies as he guided his England team to 32-15 win at Twickenham on Sunday.

Jones, who spent four years in charge of the Wallabies between 2001-2005, has now won eight straight games against the green and gold.

The 61-year-old clearly has Australia's number but seemed to take little joy from beating his own nation once again.

"I think they’re going in the right direction. I think Dave Rennie’s done a good job, he’s brought a lot of players through," Jones said of the Wallabies post-match.

"They’ve got to show fight, which they did today. They hung in there, we were just a little bit too strong for them in the last 20. I think they should be proud given the circumstance they’ve been in."

The Wallabies did indeed hang in there with the scoreline sitting at 22-15 with 10 minutes remaining before England ended the game with a bang.

After losing 15-13 against Scotland last time out, Australia next face Wales on November 21 and are desperate to avoid three straight defeats on the road having left home on a five-game winning run.

"I think the support we have back at home and the support we have here, they deserve better. We definitely want to finish on a high," Rennie said.

"Of course, it’s a setback because the plan was to come over here and keep building on that.

"We haven’t performed with the accuracy and consistency that we’ve needed over here.

"They ask a lot of questions of you to put a lot of ball in the air and play a lot of territory and, as I said, you don’t get a lot of opportunities in this level so you’ve got to be disciplined and accurate and we were neither tonight.”

James O'Connor converted all 15 of the Wallabies' points against England on Sunday, while captain Michael Hooper is a doubt to face Wales after being forced from the field in the 55th minute.
