It has been a long while since the Super Rugby title was held by an Australian team, with teams from across the ditch winning eight of the last nine competitions - 2020 having no winner due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The last Australian-based team to win the competition were the NSW Waratahs, who claimed the title in 2014, during the Super Rugby era.
Since then, the title has remained across the ditch; the Highlanders, Hurricanes, and Blues all winning one, while the Crusaders have dominated with five.
