Australia's rugby woes have continued, as the Wallabies were bundled out of the Rugby World Cup in a historic fashion.

It was a disastrous campaign for the team, winning only one of their four group stage matches, and suffering their worst-ever loss in their final game against Wales, downed 40 points to six.

This capped off a nightmare year for Australian rugby, whose decision to re-appoint Eddie Jones as Wallabies boss did not go as planned. 

But was this the worst World Cup campaign ever for the Wallabies?

What’s Australia worst result at a Rugby World Cup?

By losing three of their four group-stage games, the Wallabies failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup for the first time in their history.

This eclipses the team's previous worst place at the tournament, having gone out in the quarter-finals three times - 1995, 2007, and 2019.
