In a historic move, the women’s State of Origin series has been expanded to three matches this year.

"The Commission has invested heavily and supported the growth of the women’s game, and I am really pleased for fans and players that we now have a three-match series," NRL CEO Andrew Abdo noted last year upon the announcement of the landmark decision.

"The women’s game will continue to grow and flourish."

Women’s State of Origin 2024: Dates and venues for series

The opening match of the expanded series took place on Thursday, May 16 as part of the program for Magic Round.

NSW flew out of the gates before claiming an impressive 22-12 win at Suncorp Stadium.

All three women’s Origin matches are being played on Thursday nights this year, with the second instalment scheduled for June 6 at a sold-out McDonald Jones Stadium.

The final meeting will see the rivals return to the sunshine state, where they will play in a possible series decider at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on June 27.

The Women’s Origin series is being broadcast live and exclusive on the Nine network.

Who won the women’s State of Origin series last year?

The Maroons will be looking to defend their shield in 2024 after claiming last year’s series on points aggregate with the series drawn 1-1.

Initially just an annual standalone fixture, the women’s Origin was expanded to two matches in 2023, before it moved to align with the men’s game with three matches.

Women's State of Origin 2024 tickets

Tickets for the women’s Origin series are priced at $25 for adults and $70 for families for ticketed club members via nrl.com/tickets.

The second match in Newcastle is officially sold out.
