Jessica Sergis is set to star again in the 2023 NRLW season

Despite her age, the centre is experienced in both the club and representative arenas.

The Sporting News takes a closer look at Sergis' career so far.

Who is Jessica Sergis? Career so far

Sergis was born in Sydney, Australia and began playing amateur rugby league for the Cronulla-Caringbah Sharks in 2016.

She impressed state selectors so much that she earned a spot in the New South Wales Women's Origin team the following year, going on to score a hat-trick on debut.

Her NRLW journey began in 2018 with the St. George Illawarra Dragons, who she eventually spent three seasons with.

For Sergis, 2019 was a significant year in terms of personal accolades, picking up both the Dally M and RLPA Player of the Year awards.

She joined the Sydney Roosters - her current club - in 2021, helping them win the NRLW premiership the same year.

The 25-year-old also has two Test caps to her name and is considered one of the superstars of women's rugby league due to her versatility and on-field achievements.

Jessica Sergis position and play style

Sergis is one of the NRLW's best centres.

Her attacking threat and defensive stability make her one of the most valuable players in the position.

Her eight tries in 22 NRLW matches are impressive enough, but it is her speed and strength on the ball that puts her a cut above the rest.

In 2022 alone, she recorded 37 tackle breaks in just six appearances.

This is on top of an 83.3 per cent tackle efficiency rate on defence.

Has Jessica Sergis played for the NSW Sky Blues before?

Yes, Sergis has already made seven appearances for the Sky Blues.

She made her State of Origin debut in 2017, scoring three tries and picking up the win in a memorable performance.

Injuries meant she did not feature the following year, but she successfully returned in 2019, bagging a try in another win for NSW.

She has remained a key player for the side since then, appearing in every match for the Sky Blues.
