Tigers v Roosters: Esan Marsters awarded try after possible knock on image

Wests Tigers hit the front in their clash with the Roosters at Bankwest Stadium on Friday night after Esan Marsters was awarded a contentious try by the Bunker.

The centre got on the end of Benji Marshall grubber, with referee Henry Perenara sending it upstairs as a try.

Replays showed Marsters batting the ball towards the turf, with commentators unsure whether there was sufficient downward pressure to award a try.

Check out the video below.

The Bunker however was happy enough to award a try.

That four-pointer was a double blow for the Roosters, as they lost fullback Joseph Manu to a head knock, with the home side going up 16-12 in a seesawing clash.

Two former Roosters in Ryan Matterson and Paul Momirovski both scored tries against their old club, while Nat Butcher and Daniel Tupou crossed for the visitors.

Though Tupou's, courtesy of a clever Luke Keary pass, was also controversial, with two refereeing decisions benefitting the tricolours in the lead up.

With the Tigers appearing to have the momentum following Marsters' try, the visitors were sparked into action, with Victor Radley and Latrell Mitchell crossing for two quick tries to hand them back the ascendency.

Those would be the final scores of the game, the Roosters running out eight-point winners in an entertaining clash.
