Tevita Pangai Junior boxing: Retiring star set for October 7th NRL fight night card alongside Paulo Aukoso image

Tevita Pangai Junior's transition from rugby league to boxing will begin in early-October, with the Bulldogs enforcer set to headline the upcoming 'Battle on the Reef' NRL fight night card in Townsville. 

The 27-year-old made the shock decision to retire at season's end - just two months after making his State of Origin debut for NSW - to pursue a full-time career in the ring. 

Pangai will be one of the headline acts on a card that features fellow league heavyweights Nelson Asofa-Solomona, Jason Taumalolo and Junior Paulo, while rising star Paulo Aukoso will also be in action. 

The event will take place on Saturday, October 7th at Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre.

Who is Tevita Pangai Junior fighting?

Pangai will step into the ring for his third professional fight against on October 7th at the 'Battle on the Reef' pay-per-view, with his opponent to be announced closer to the event

His two previous boxing bouts came against Gerico Cecil and Jerry Tupai, with the former Broncos star emerging victorious via knockout in both encounters. 

His younger brother Jermaine is also set to step into the ring on the card, with both Pangai's trained by former Australian super lightweight champ Chris McCullen.
