What is the largest winning margin in State of Origin history?
The heaviest winning margin in an Origin game came in 2015.
In game three at Suncorp Stadium, with the series still on the line, Mal Meninga's Maroons hammered the Blues 52-6. The 46-point deficit remains unbeaten to this day.
Interestingly, not a single player scored twice in that game. Nine different players picked up four-pointers.
New South Wales's biggest winning margin is fresher in the memory. In Game 1 of 2021, the Blues rolled over Queensland 50-6.
When was the last State of Origin whitewash?
Queensland
The Maroons are the most recent state to record a 3-0 series win, achieving the feat in 2010.
The opening game that year was decided by just four points, although that was only due to two tries in the final 10 minutes from the Blues to make it 28-24.
Game 2 was a much bigger scoreline, with the Maroons running out 34-6 winners and securing the series.
Heading into the final game of the 2010 series, NSW made a bunch of changes, but still lost 23-18.
This was the only time Queensland earned a 3-0 victory during their eight-year reign of dominance in the Origin arena.
NSW
The Blues' last whitewash result came in 2000.
That series is perhaps most famous for Bryan Fletcher's hand grenade try celebration.
Following impressive wins in the first two games, NSW came out in the third clash and decimated their opponents to the tune of 56-16.
Ryan Girdler scored 32 points – the most in a single Origin game – as the Blues embarrassed the Maroons at Stadium Australia.
Since then, the Blues have failed to win a series 3-0.
