Queensland will attempt to claim their third State of Origin series victory in a row when they host New South Wales at Suncorp Stadium tonight.

The Maroons battered the Blues 38-10 in the opening match in Sydney, before Michael Maguire’s side responded in style at the MCG with a thumping 38-18 win to level the series and force a decider.

QLD have won 111 of the 13 deciders in Brisbane and will be confident of getting the job done despite the demoralising loss in Game II, which sparked Billy Slater into making a number of changes to his side.

Kalyn Ponga will make his first Origin appearance since starring in the 2022 decider, while he will be joined by fellow Newcastle star Dane Gagai, while Selwyn Cobbo has also been recalled.

The Blues will be without Latrell Mitchell for the third instalment after he suffered a foot injury while in action for South Sydney.

And to make matters worse, NSW haven’t won a decider up in enemy territory since 2005.
