New South Wales will be desperate to keep the State of Origin series alive when they square off against Queensland in Melbourne.

The Blues were battered 38-10 on home soil in the opening match after Joseph Suaalii got his marching orders for a high shot on Reece Walsh inside the first 10 minutes.

Billy Slater’s side then put the hosts to the sword with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow bagging a hat-trick during a brilliant display.

The Maroons are now within one win of claiming their third successive series victory.

However, all is not lost for Michael Maguire’s men with the Blues boasting a commanding record at the MCG.

NSW have lost just one match at the famous stadium since they met their bitter rivals at the ‘G for the first time back in 1994.
