The State of Origin 2024 series will get up and running on Wednesday when New South Wales host Queensland at Accor Stadium.

Attention will then quickly turn to the do-or-die clash in Game II where the Blues will either have a chance to claim the shield for the first time in three years, or the Maroons will be looking to extend their dynasty under Billy Slater.

The second instalment of the series will see the two rivals clash in Melbourne for the first time in six years.

Game II will be played on Wednesday, June 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

It will be the sixth time Origin will be hosted at the legendary stadium after first being played there in 1994.

Since that historic clash in front of a then record rugby league crowd in Australia of 87,161 fans, Origin has repeatedly drawn massive numbers in Victoria.

In 2015, Game II was played in front of over 90,000 people before the most recent match occurred in 2018 when the MCG hosted the opening game of the series.

The Blues have the far superior record at the ground as they have emerged victorious in four of their five matches there to date.
