State of Origin 2023: Why have the Queensland Maroons replaced their XXXX logo? image

For the second straight Origin series, the Queensland Maroons will ditch the XXXX logo on their jerseys, instead opting to let players show their local pride.

In conjunction with the beer brand, the Maroons have once again been given the opportunity to sport their postcodes in place of the traditional logo, to honour where these players came from.

Every player selected for Queensland across the three games will wear their postcode proudly on their arm, thanks to an initiative from XXXX with input from past and present Maroon legends including Sam Thaiday, Darren Lockyer, Patrick Carrigan, Christian Welch, Cameron Munster, and Daly Cherry-Evans.

According to Carrigan, the chance to represent not just his state, but the community that he played his local footy in is one he is incredibly grateful for.

"Growing up in Brisbane it was my dream to represent my state in the Maroon jersey. When I step out onto the field, I’m stepping out for everyone from my hometown of Holland Park - 4121 - and for our loyal Queensland supporters," Carrigan said.

“I’m pumped that this XXXX initiative has continued for its second year - Queenslanders should be extremely proud of it.

"These communities are close to our hearts so it’s a fitting tribute to wear them on our sleeves and celebrate the places that make this state full of pride and greatness.”
