Clint Gutherson and Ryan Matterson have been added to the Blues squad for Sunday's State of Origin game two in Perth on Sunday.

The squad's 18th and 19th men are both yet to make their debuts for NSW, though Matterson was 18th man for the game one loss earlier this month.

Parramatta captain Gutherson can provide cover for several positions across the backline and in the halves, while Matterson plays in the backrow for Wests Tigers.

Gutherson started the season in great form but has had a quiet few weeks, with the Eels' form hitting a snag as well

The 24-year-old said he wasn't thinking about higher honours after a "poor month" for his club but he was keen to head into camp..

"It's a dream to be picked but just to be in the squad at the moment is super exciting and I can't wait," Gutherson said on Monday evening.

"You don't really think about (getting picked). You go out there and there and try to win each week and if it pops up, it pops up and fortunately enough it's come through and I'm just over the moon to be in that squad and just go over there and get in camp with the boys and just enjoy it."

Matterson, also 24, can count himself slightly unlucky to not be in the 17, having been overlooked in favour of Wade Graham for the bench spot in place of the omitted Angus Crichton.

That was one of seven changes coach Brad Fittler made following the narrow loss at Suncorp Stadium.

Three of those changes were forced due to injury - David Klemmer, Nick Cotric and Payne Haas were all ruled out - while Crichton, Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker and Josh Morris were all dropped.

Fittler has opted for veteran playmaker James Maloney to partner Nathan Cleary in the halves, Tom Trbojevic has recovered from his hamstring injury to play centre, Blake Ferguson has earned a recall on the wing while Daniel Saifiti replaces club teammates Klemmer in the front row.

Dale Finucane and Tariq Sims join Graham and Cameron Murray on the bench.
