Robbie Farah’s hopes of making a miracle recovery from a broken leg and playing in his Leichhardt Oval farewell have increased after he ran freely at training on Wednesday.

Farah got through a 50-minute ballwork session without inconvenience, stunning onlookers.

He kicked off his left foot and ran laterally without any obvious pain.

The veteran hooker later joined in a basketball match with teammates.

Farah has been named in the Tigers’ 21-man squad to play Cronulla in a shoot-out for eighth spot.

Farah's next test will be a wrestling session on Wednesday afternoon, and a final decision will be made on his availability later in the week.

If he plays, it will be Farah’s final home match on his beloved Leichhardt Oval.

"It's a fair effort that he's even in the conversation when you think about his injury," said Farah's Tigers teammate, Benji Marshall.

"It sums Robbie up and I think he's probably explored every angle possible to make himself available for this week.

"I'll be honest, I was quite surprised with the way he moved today. It's good news for us."

Asked whether Farah would take the field on Sunday, Marshall said a decision would be made closer to the game.

"He seems pretty confident, but that's going to be a decision for him and the coach later in the week," he said.

"We're going to expect that he isn't playing, and if he does, it's an added bonus.

"It looked like he wasn't in that much pain. He looked pretty good to me. But once you go out on the field, it's a different feeling.

"You've gotta get that contact again. He hasn't played in a few weeks, but I'm pretty confident that if he does play he'll do his job."
