Knights utility Phoenix Crossland has re-signed for a further three years, keeping him at the club until at least the end of the 2027 season.

After coming through the lower grades and into the NRL as a halfback or five-eighth, the 23-year-old played the majority of this year in the No.9 jumper due to the absence of Jayden Brailey

Crossland has amassed 60 appearances for Newcastle since making his debut as a teenager in 2019, but still has plenty of upside in a variety of positions, making him a valuable asset to the club.

He joins the likes of Kalyn Ponga, Daniel Saifiti and Greg Marzhew in committing long-term to the Knights.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the club's head of football Peter Parr praised the re-signing of Crossland and believes it will hold them in good stead for the years to come.

“We are grateful Phoenix has decided to extend his career at the Knights," he said.

“Phoenix has shown he has all the attributes to be a major contributor to the club’s future success and we are excited about what he can achieve in the coming years.”

With the November 1st date fast-approaching and Kurt Mann departing the Knights in the off-season, the move to retain Crossland was clearly a priority and they will now enter the transfer period in a better position.
