Melbourne might be upset by Paul Gallen’s claims of disunity within the Storm camp, but don’t expect the Sharks skipper to back away from his inflammatory comments.

Gallen angered members of the Storm camp when he revealed five-eighth Cameron Munster and captain Cameron Smith bickered after botching a last-minute play in the shock 20-18 loss to Cronulla on Thursday night.

"Munster started arguing. Munster went straight back at Cam Smith, they all started arguing amongst each other," Gallen told the Sunday Footy Show.

The veteran Cronulla forward was not about to perform a 180 when given the chance to clarify his comments on Monday.

"Go watch the video Melbourne – it happened," Gallen said.

"I don’t know why they’re getting upset by it.

"Am I making anything up here? They didn’t get the play on that they wanted, they mucked it up.

"I don’t understand what part of my comments were offensive to them or why they’re getting upset.

"They’re a great team but that last play of the game was un-Melbourne like.

"They thankfully lost their way and that’s exactly what I said."

The Melbourne-Cronulla feud is one of the game’s great rivalries, sparked by the 2016 decider between the clubs and fuelled by physical and verbal stoushes over the ensuing three years.

Gallen has been front and centre of the dispute and knows he will have large target on him when he lines up against the Storm for possibly the last time in round 17.

He said: "Knowing Melbourne they will hold on to that (his disunity comments) until next time we play them.

"(They will) stick it up around the change-room wall and I will be on the chopping block, as (Craig) Bellamy calls it.

"If that’s what they need to get motivated, then so be it.

"There was nothing that I said that was derogatory toward them."
