NRL Supercoach: Who to buy, hold and sell - Round 23 image

WHO TO BUY IN SUPERCOACH

Nathan Cleary HFB - $591,900

Average: 62

Last Round Score: 75

Average Minutes: 76

Breakeven: 47

Verdict:  Cleary has been the Supercoach-form halfback of the past month, averaging a remarkable 85 since State of Origin. With the goal-kicking back in his grasp, Cleary has been back at his usual best and will benefit largely from the injury of James Maloney with extra playmaking duties on his shoulders. Penrith boast a healthy record against Newcastle and they end the season with two high-scoring teams in New Zealand and Canberra.

Nathan Brown 2RF - $543,800

Average: 62

Last Round Score: 70

Average Minutes: 68

Breakeven: 54

Verdict:  On our list a few weeks back, we're giving Brown a revisit after the recent slip-ups of Coen Hess and Jai Arrow, plus the suspension of Jason Taumalolo. For owners of any of this trio, a beefing up in the second-row is crucial and Brown - who has averaged 68 in the past month - is the answer.

Cameron Munster 5/8 FLB - $522,500

Average: 59

Last Round Score: 56

Average Minutes: 80

Breakeven: 106

Verdict:  With Maloney and Widdop both sidelined until finals, the halves are a worrying hole. Most have Shaun Johnson on their books and are looking for a sidekick which is where Munster comes in. It has been a topsy-turvy season for the Queensland star but we're a fan of Melbourne's run home - including games against Parramatta, Gold Coast and Penrith - and coming off two straight losses we're expecting the Storm to finish strong under Munster's brilliance.

WHO TO HOLD IN SUPERCOACH

Cameron Smith HOK - $520,100

Average: 65

Last Round Score: 52

Average Minutes: 78

Breakeven: 77

Verdict:  It has been an awful month for the Supercoach legend with an injury dilemma in between, but expect Melbourne and Smith to roll into the finals with purpose. We're predicting big points against the Eels and Titans on the back of two losses and the Storm skipper will have plenty of work in the goal-kicking department.

Jai Arrow 2RF - $$531,200

Average:  65

Last Round Score: 57

Average Minutes:  56

Breakeven: 59

Verdict:  What on earth has happened to his minutes? After a few injury niggles, Arrow's time on the field has been cut short dramatically and his scores have suffered for it. In round 21, Garth Brennan awarded him 73 minutes for a score of 72 - keep em' coming - but a week later gave him just 49 minutes for a score of 57. It's hard to get a read on this one, but with a breakeven of just 59, it's worth a hold for one more week.

WHO TO SELL IN SUPERCOACH

Ryan Matterson 2RF CTW - $444,400

Average: 59

Last Round Score: 26

Average Minutes: 72

Breakeven: 100

Verdict:  The shift to five-eighth might be working out for the Roosters, but it certainly isn't for us Supercoaches. Matterson's base stats have fallen of a cliff and it is unlikely he will be able to replicate his earlier form in the makeshift position until Luke Keary returns.
