The North Sydney Bears have edged closer to the summit of the NSW Cup, trailing the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs by just one point.

There was less movement north of the border, with the Souths Logan Magpies and Burleigh Bears locked on points at the top of the Queensland Cup.

Here's who caught our eye across the reserve grade competitions this round.

Hayze Perham (Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs)

Hayze Perham found himself dropped to reserve grade this round and responded in style.

The Bulldogs picked up a big 44-16 win over the Rabbitohs, with Perham making an impact in the centres.

He opened the scoring in the seventh minute before adding another try in the second half.

The 24-year-old also ran for a game-high 220 run metres, contributed with two try assists, and didn't miss a single of his 15 tackles.

Ky Rodwell (Parramatta Eels)

The Eels found themselves on the losing side of their NSW Cup clash with the Warriors, but Ky Rodwell still put on an impressive performance.

Playing 66 minutes at prop, his 46 tackles were the most made by any player on the field.

He also powered through 173 run metres, 51 of which were post-contact.

Ben Stevanovic (North Sydney Bears)

Young halfback Ben Stevanovic had his hands all over the Bears' 30-16 win against the Sea Eagles on Sunday.

He was active all over the park, capping off his performance with two late tries to seal the result.

Stevanovic picked up 129 run metres himself, whilst also contributing with a try assist.

His six missed tackles were a bit of a blemish on a very strong stats sheet, though.

Sam Coster (Burleigh Bears)

The Bears headed to Papua New Guinea on the weekend to face the Hunters, coming away with a 30-22 victory.

Sam Coster was a standout for the visitors, putting in a commanding 80-minute display at lock.

He was everywhere defensively, making 48 tackles - the most of any player - and missing just one.

The 30-year-old was useful with the ball too, running for 115 metres off 13 runs.

George Jennings (Brisbane Tigers)

George Jennings feasted on the wing during the Tigers' 34-18 win over Western Clydesdales, bagging four tries.

The 30-year-old is primarily plying his trade in reserve grade this season after recovering from an ACL injury and was at his best on Saturday.

He scored a hat trick within the space of 10 minutes late in the first half before adding another in the second stanza.

Jennings also ran for 224 metres - a game-high.
