In another entertaining round of reserve grade action, a few familiar faces caught the eye with impressive displays.
In the NSW Cup, Newtown continued their great recent form with a 20-14 victory over the North Sydney Bears, the Panthers battered the Sea Eagles 48-6 and the Bulldogs recorded an amazing comeback win over a strong Canberra outfit.
Elsewhere, a Titan put his hand up for a recall in the Q-Cup, while Wayne Bennett looks like he has a star in the making for The Dolphins next year.
Here are five standouts from across the round of action.
Jeral Skelton - Canterbury Bulldogs
The Bulldogs found themselves 22-0 down inside the opening stages of their clash with the Raiders on Saturday. However, they managed to flip the game completely on its head with rugby union convert Jeral Skelton a massive factor in the 39-26 turnaround.
Skelton got on the scoresheet in the second period, which capped a devastating spell either side of half-time where the Dogs notched six tries in quick succession.
Playing just his second game in reserve grade, he troubled the Canberra defensive line throughout with his strong carries.
The big man finished with over 200 running metres, one linebreak, 14 tackle busts and an offload to go with his third try in two appearances.
Lachlan Miller - Newtown Jets
The ladder-leading Newtown Jets found themselves trailing at half-time, but produced a dominant second 40 to maintain their place at the top of the standings.
Lachlan Miller got a taste of first-grade action following Will Kennedy’s suspension earlier in the year and continues to excel out of the limelight.
Laying on two tries and getting his hands on the ball plenty while playing in the halves, Miller finished with just shy of 100 running metres, seven tackle busts and one linebreak assist in a typically all-action showing.
Izaac Thompson - South Sydney Rabbitohs
South Sydney recorded a 30-0 win over the Mounties to keep their finals hopes alive.
Izaac Thompson set the scene for the game, when he notched a quick-fire double to hand the Bunnies a 10-0 lead.
The winger had to wait for the second half before he was able to complete his hattrick, but he did so after a shift inside the Mounties' 20m zone allowed him to cross in the corner.
In a prolific season, Thompson has bagged 18 tries which puts him atop the try-scoring leader board heading into the final month of the season.
Paul Turner - Tweed Seagulls
With the Gold Coast Titans continuing to struggle in the NRL, the chances are high for a player to impress in reserve grade and earn a call-up to Justin Holbrook’s side.
Lining up at fullback in the Tweed Seagulls’ 38-26 win over the Ipswich Jets in the Q-Cup, Turner possibly did just that.
Despite failing to field a bomb which led to a try, Turner didn’t let his error get to him as he finished with a game-high four linebreaks, one try assist, one linebreak assist, 200 running metres and five tackle busts.
Valynce Te Whare - Redcliffe Dolphins
There is no doubt Valynce Te Whare is a star of the future, after yet another barnstorming display from the centre.
The 21-year-old could quickly become a fan favourite for The Dolphins next year, when Wayne Bennett’s men enter into the NRL.
He ran for a game-high 226m and notched another try to go along with an assist, as the Redcliffe Dolphins and Townsville Blackhawks played out a draw.
Boasting a high work rate and ability to smash through any defensive line, Te Whare is one to keep an eye on in the future.
