NRL Round 10: Five standout performers in NSW Cup and QLD Cup image

Whilst Magic Round took the spotlight over the weekend, there were plenty of notable performances across the NSW and QLD Cups.

The Rabbitohs and Eels both picked up narrow wins, with the Jets also returning to the winners' circle.

North of the border, the Seagulls thumped Clydesdales before the ladder-leading Capras lost their first match of 2023.

Here's who caught our eye across the reserve grade competitions this round.

Blake Taaffe (Rabbitohs)

Taaffe was instrumental in the Bunnies' 28-26 win over the Roosters, scoring 16 of his side's points.

He bagged a try on either side of halftime, assisted one himself and ran for 176 metres in a top performance at fullback.

The 24-year-old was also reliable from the kicking tee, slotting four of his five conversions and helping his team secure the two-point victory.

Should injuries hit Souths, Taaffe continues to prove his ability to be a trustworthy replacement.

Daniel Atkinson (Jets)

The Newtown Jets got back to winning ways on Sunday with a 13-point victory over the Panthers.

Daniel Atkinson steered the ship from five-eighth, demonstrating maturity beyond his years.

The former Melbourne Storm player bagged two tries and an assist while racking up 161 run metres.

His seven tackle breaks were also the second-most on the team.

Jacob Liddle (Dragons)

After being dropped from the first team amid a shuffle-up, Liddle responded well as part of the Dragons' NSW Cup side.

Despite the loss, it was a proactive and energetic performance from the 26-year-old.

Liddle opened the scoring in the fourth minute before picking up 130 run metres - 111 of which came from nine dummy-half runs.

He impressed in defence too, making 33 tackles with 94.29% efficiency.

Lindon McGrady (Seagulls)

It was a true fullback showing from McGrady on Saturday as he scored 20 of the Seagulls' 50 points in their drubbing of Clydesdales.

He set the tone by scoring the first two tries of the match before adding a try assist and two line-break assists to his stat sheet.

From the boot, he slotted six of his eight conversions and was brought off with nine minutes remaining with the result secured.

Lachlan Hubner (Capras)

In a low-scoring battle between the Bears and Capras, it was the latter side's lock who shone.

Although the Capras went on to lose the match, Hubner was a physical and attacking presence all afternoon.

He made a game-high 44 tackles and ran for a team-high 204 metres in a complete 80-minute performance.
