He's a freakish talent on the field and a thoroughly good bloke off it.
Newcastle Knights fullback Kalyn Ponga gave year four student Ollie Daniels a priceless memory last Tuesday by dropping into The Junction Public School unannounced.
Ollie had nominated Ponga as one of his idols during a class speech which was partially filmed by his teacher and sent to the Queensland Origin star.

Humbled and moved, 21-year-old Ponga rocked up to the school 40 minutes later and asked to see his young fan.
He met Ollie, took pictures and presented him with his match-worn headgear from last Sunday's State of Origin clash and a handwritten note expressing his gratitude.
Ponga's message in texta read: "Hey mate, thank you for the kind words in your speech. Killed it.
"I always struggled to talk in front of the class so I admire you. Here's a little gift.
"Cheers, Kalyn Ponga."
Ollie's mother Angela Lerougetel told the Knights that Ponga's generous deed had an enormous effect on her thrilled son.
"We really just want to pass on a huge thank you to Kalyn Ponga and just really [recognise] how these small acts of kindness are really appreciated by the parents and local school community,” Angela said.
“So proud to have these positive cool, calm guys playing for the Knights and for our sons to look up to. Sport is everything for them.
"At home Ollie could not get the smile off his face and was still in disbelief.
"He proudly showed off his new headgear to his family all night and placed it high on his bookcase in prime position so he can stare at it when he goes to bed, so gorgeous!"
Ollie also penned a letter to Ponga, thanking him again and saying that he will "remember this day forever".
An outstanding role model who has a track record of going above and beyond for supporters, the incredibly skilled Ponga is set to be the face of the NRL for years to come.
