The quickest player in rugby league will be even harder to contain this season.

Melbourne winger Josh Addo-Carr has packed on eight kilograms after being challenged by super coach Craig Bellamy.

The Storm flyer achieved the gains through eating properly and frequently, as well as hitting the gym hard over the pre-season.

Addo-Carr's playing weight in recent years was around 83–85 kilos.

The 'Foxx' bulked up mainly to increase his effectiveness carrying the ball out of the Storm's end and to make him stronger in aerial contests.

But the 23-year-old hasn't sacrificed any of his trademark speed, as he proved in last week's All Stars game by scoring two tries for the Indigenous team.

“I feel just as quick, I don’t feel any slower, it’s just the workload of carrying eight extra kilograms," he said to The Herald Sun.

“... I think with getting older I needed to put a bit more size on, you see with Greg Inglis, he was as skinny as me back with the day, I think it comes with age.”

Addo-Carr has scored 41 tries in 52 games for Melbourne since moving from the Wests Tigers in 2017.
