The NRL is back and in a big way with a double-header in Las Vegas kicking things off for 2025.

Canberra and New Zealand squared off at Allegiant Stadium in the opening game of the season before Penrith got their premiership defence started with a clash against Cronulla.

Attention now turns back to Australia with the Sydney Roosters and Brisbane meeting in a blockbuster clash on Thursday night, where Michael Maguire will kick-start his reign at the Broncos.

The Wests Tigers' bold new era starts at Campbelltown Sports Stadium on Friday with Jarome Luai set to star for his new club following his exit from the Panthers.

Wayne Bennett will then have a reunion with the Dolphins when he takes his South Sydney outfit up to Queensland.

Canterbury will be looking to make a quick start to their campaign when they take on a much-changed St George Illawarra, while Manly and North Queensland will lock horns at 4 Pines Park.

Finally, Melbourne will put their imposing Round 1 winning streak on the line when they take on Jason Ryles' Parramatta to conclude an extended opening round.
