NRL judiciary round 4: Rabbitohs duo facing bans; Saifiti and Afoa in trouble for shoulder charges image

Jacob Saifiti takes early plea on one-game suspension following huge collision

The NRL judiciary has managed to pick out a charge from the monstrous collision that saw Kurt Mann knocked out in the Newcastle's loss to the Dragons on Sunday.

St George Illawarra winger Mikaele Ravalawa returned a kick at pace and was met with four Knights defenders.

Five-eighth Kurt Mann was the first in line, catchin Ravalawa's shoulder and suffering a nasty concussion.

Among the other Newcastle players looking to make a statement, Jacob and Daniel Saifiti and Connor Watson all lined up the Fijian.

The officials could have reasonably penalised any of the three for a shoulder charge, though Jacob made the most significant contact.

He's been hit with a grade-one charge and will now miss a week with an early guilty plea.

Dragons hooker Andrew McCullough was also charged with contrary conduct in his side's win, appearing to rub an forearm into Jayden Brailey's face midway through the second half.

McCullough will be fined $1,150 with an early guilty plea.

Bunty Afoa looking at a suspension for Sam Walker hit

Warriors enforcer Bunty Afoa is facing a one-week suspension after a late hit on Roosters debutant Sam Walker.

Afoa appeared to push the limit a little too far when looking to rough up the young halfback at the SCG on Sunday.

Walker dug in to the line before firing a pass out to the left, though Afoa dropped his shoulder into the youngster after he'd got rid of the footy.

He'll miss a week with an early plea.

Roosters hardman Victor Radley, making his long-awaited return from injury, was charged with dangerous contact for a 'hip-drop' tackle on Jazz Tevaga.

He'll be fined $1,350 with an early guilty plea.

Rabbitohs suspended following Bulldogs thrashing

South Sydney Rabbitohs duo Cody Walker and Keaon Koloamatangi have been suspended over incidents during their win over the Bulldogs.

Walker has accepted a one-match ban for an elbow on Nick Meaney.

The five-eighth has also been fined $1,150 for a separate incident, where he stood on the leg of Corey Waddell.

Koloamatangi will miss two games after taking the early guilty plea for a crusher tackle on Will Hopoate.

Jack Hetherington escaped sanction for a crusher tackle in the same game.

Sam Lisone fined for dangerous contact

Titans bench player Sam Lisone has been charged with dangerous contact after a tackle on Raiders fullback Charnze Nikoll-Klokstad on Saturday.

Lisone won't be suspended, and instead faces a fine.

With an early guilty plea, he'll be hit with a $1700 fine. If he fights it and loses, the fine will be $2250.

Broncos forward Pat Carrigan charged over crusher tackle

The pain has continued for the Broncos, with lock Pat Carrigan copping a one-match ban for a crusher tackle on Christian Welch.

Carrigan accepted the one-week ban on Sunday morning and will miss next week's game against the Rabbitohs.

Injury not the only concern for Morgan Boyle

After dislocating his shoulder in Manly's loss to Penrith, second-rower Morgan Boyle is also facing suspension for a crusher tackle.

Boyle has been handed a grade-one offence for his tackle on Brian To'o, which will see him miss one game if he takes the early plea.

But the major concern is the shoulder injury, with Des Hasler admitting after the game that it 'doesn't look good'.
