Jahrome Hughes took out the Dally M Medal on Wednesday night, with his sensational 2024 season seeing him crowned as the NRL's best player.
The Melbourne halfback edged out Roosters fullback James Tedesco by one point in a dramatic vote count at Royal Randwick.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Hughes – a New Zealand international – was honoured with an impromptu haka from some club and international teammates.

As master of ceremonies Yvonne Sampson made some closing remarks, Storm winger Will Warbrick emerged from the audience and initiated the ceremonial dance, which holds importance in Māori culture.
Warbrick was quickly joined by Melbourne's Eli Katoa and Canberra's Joe Tapine, who both were announced as part of the NRL's Team of the Year.
Hughes watched on as the trio performed an emotional haka.
